CANADA CARBON COMPLETES FIRST PHASE OF PROTOTYPE FOR ASBURY GRAPHITE PROJECT via Investing.com

Toronto, ON, Canada, Aug. 09, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Canada Carbon Inc. (the Company) (TSX-V:CCB), (FF:U7N1) reports that it has completed the first phase of Bulk Sampling for the 100% owned Asbury (NYSE:) Project Graphite located 80 kilometers (km) NNE of Gatineau , near Notre-Dame-du-Laus, Québec. In collaboration with SGS Lakefield, the Company has completed work in the following key areas:
- Head examination
- Bond Ball (NYSE: ) Performance Index Analysis
- Two Flotation Tests (F01 and F02)
Brain exercises
Three samples were obtained: BK1 “ drill core, BK2 “ drill core, and BK3 “ outcrop. These samples were prepared for testing, and a composite of two core samples (BK1 and BK2) was prepared and named Core Comp.
Carbon speciation analysis of these samples shows total carbon ranging from 1.71% to 7.60% from the lower to upper grade drill core, and the highest total carbon of 18.5% in the outcrop sample. In all samples, carbon occurs as both graphitic carbon (C(g)) and carbonate minerals (CO3). In this float plan, CCB will assess the carbon footprint of the graph as opposed to the total carbon footprint. Any carbonate concentration is expected to be carried over to our tailings products.
Bond Ball Work Index Analysis
Bond Ball Work Index tests were performed on three samples, BK1, BK2 and BK3 which produced similar work indices ranging from 14.1 (BK2) to 14.6 (BK1). Compared to the SGS database of thousands of ore types, shown in the graph below, the Asbury samples fall in the middle range of percent hardness, from 47.4% to 53.3%.
More Float Tests
Two solid flotation tests were performed on the low grade BK2 aggregate.
- F01 used an MF2-style flowsheet, where a flash flotation stage is performed on crushed ore producing flash rougher concentrates. Flash rougher tailings were low and concentrated produced.
- F02 used a traditional flowsheet where the crushed ore was ground whole and the solid concentrate was collected.
The results were promising even for the low-grade sample, with 92.4% and 92.3% photocarbon detection in F01 and F02, respectively. In particular, the first F01 flash concentrate gave the highest grade of 70.3% C
