RFK has been hurting Trump more than Harris in recent weeks: Strategas By Investing.com
The recent actions of Robert Francis Kennedy Jr. (RFK) hurt Donald Trump more than Kamala Harris, research and brokerage firm Strategas said in a recent report.
After President Joe Biden's exit from the race, Vice President Harris has successfully rallied the Democratic base, greatly reducing the number of Democrats who may have supported RFK or other third-party candidates.
“So, RFK has been hurting Trump more than Harris in recent weeks,” Strategas analysts said in the note.
Analysts continue to discuss the possible consequences of RFK's endorsement of Trump in the electoral college.
While Democrats believe RFK's decision will be “pointless,” the Trump campaign sees it as a “game changer.”
“The worst way to calculate change is to compare the polls of a five-person race to RFK and then a two-person race,” Strategas analysts said.
“The results show that RFK's influence is significant in the electoral college with Pennsylvania and Arizona moving to Trump and closing the electoral college to Harris,” they added.
Specifically, it would change the electoral college outlook from Harris' 281-241 lead to Trump's 287-251 victory.
Although the political landscape is more volatile than this study suggests, it also shows that RFK's endorsement “is likely to have at least a small, if not large, impact on the race.”
In the month since Biden left the race, Harris has successfully rallied the Democratic base and renewed voters' enthusiasm for the party. Democratic leaders have expressed that the current power is similar to that of 2008.
Meanwhile, Trump's polling appears to be fading, Strategas notes, despite any improvement Harris may gain in the convention. Analysts said RFK's endorsement may have been a factor behind the swing in Trump's odds this week, despite a shift in the Democratic Alliance.
