Ukrainian drones set fire to oil depot in Russia's Rostov, Russian Telegram channels say By Reuters
(Reuters) – Ukrainian jets set fire to several oil tanks at the Glubokinskaya oil depot in Russia's Rostov region, several Russian Telegram channels reported on Wednesday.
The governor of Rostov, Vasily Golubev, said in a Telegram post that four drones launched in Ukraine were destroyed in the region, but did not mention the attack on the oil depot.
The Baza Telegram channel, which is close to Russia's security forces, said three tanks were on fire after two drones landed on an oil storage facility.
Reuters could not independently verify the reports. There is no current comment from Ukraine.
The attack took place while tanks were still burning at an oil storage facility in Rostov, Proletarsk region, ten days after the attack on the depot, Russian Telegram channels reported.
Separately, Alexander Gusev, the governor of Ukraine's bordering Voronezh region, said debris from a Ukrainian-launched plane over the region had caused a fire “near explosives.” Gusev added that there was no explosion.
The fire has been extinguished, said Gusev on Telegram, and the residents of the two areas that were temporarily evacuated are returning to their homes.
Russian officials often do not reveal the full extent of the damage caused by the invasion of Ukraine.
Both sides deny targeting civilians in the 30-month-old war launched by Russia in a full-scale attack on its tiny neighbor. Kyiv says its airstrikes are aimed at destroying energy, transport and military infrastructure that are key to Moscow's overall war effort.
