30+ Best Road Trips on a Budget
One of the easiest ways to save big on road trips and family vacations is to pack your own snacks and meals whenever possible. It doesn't have to be complicated or difficult! Check out this list of easy and healthy road trip ideas!
How We Save on Our Family Road Trips
Whenever we travel, I always bring our own snacks and meals, because it saves a lot of money! Here are some of my top tips:
- Use what you already have at home! (You'd be surprised what you can pull out of your pantry and refrigerator!)
- Don't forget the homemade snacks!
- Start looking for snack deals a few weeks ahead of time, so you have a good variety for your trip without spending a ton of money out of pocket.
- For last-minute trips when you don't have time to pack snacks, bring a box of bags and stop at a convenience store to grab a snack on your way out. Buy a few large containers and separate them into individual foods and bags. (This saves a lot of money instead of paying for pre-portioned food packages!)
- For an easy lunch, stop by and grab a jar of peanut butter, jar of jelly, bread, bag of baby carrots, and fruit! This is a lot cheaper (and healthier!) than a fast food stop.
