Poland reports two more deaths in central Europe from floods Reuters

WARSAW – The number of people who died in the floods that hit south-west Poland this month has increased to nine, said the police, who reported that two more bodies were found at a cleaning site.

At least 26 people have died in central Europe in the worst floods to hit the region in at least two decades this month.

The floods have left a trail of destruction from Romania to Poland, spreading mud and debris in cities, destroying bridges, submerging cars and leaving authorities and homeowners with a bill for damages that will reach billions of dollars.

“In Klodzko County and Nysa County, during the cleaning of two bodies after the flood, two bodies were found,” said the Polish police on social media X on Thursday night.

“Identification operations are still ongoing. The circumstances of the deaths indicate that they may be the 8th and 9th victims who died in the flood-affected areas.”
