Specialist insurer Beazley has appointed Paul Bantick (pictured left) to replace Bob Quane as its chief executive, while Bethany Greenwood (pictured right) has been named chief executive of Lloyd's management agency Beazley Furlonge Limited.

The immediate, internal appointment follows Quane's retirement and will see Greenwood take up the role of chairman of Beazley's wholesale management committee in London. At the same time, the Marsh alum maintains his position as head of the special hazards group.

Bantick, meanwhile, will remain in charge of the cyber risks division at Beazley until a new head of the cyber risks group is installed.

“Paul is an outstanding insurance leader – he has driven the growth of our cyber business and been a leader in the continued development and maturation of the marketplace,” said Beazley CEO Adrian Cox.

“I want to thank Bob Quane for his role at Beazley, particularly his focus on developing our forward-looking approach to climate risk, which has been key to the continued, profitable growth of our real estate business.”

Cox was equally appreciative of Greenwood's expanded role, saying: “Bethany has a strong track record, during her five years at Beazley, of growing and differentiating our products through innovation and building strong trading relationships with broker partners, and I'm delighted she will be doing so. He will bring expertise and energy full-time to London. “

Greenwood is from Beazley's Boston office, while Bantick has been working in the UK since 2005. The new CUO worked at WTW more than two decades ago.

“It is great to note that at Beazley we have outstanding talent and a strong succession planning process, which means we are able to appoint high-quality leaders, such as Paul and Bethany, to our internal team,” added Cox.
