The leadership changes come as the company expands its products and global operations

Cowbell, an online insurance provider for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-market businesses, has appointed Denise Pagliarulo, a finance veteran previously with AXIS Capital and Deloitte, to lead its finance team.

In this new role, Pagliarulo will oversee global financial operations as the company expands its products, services, and geographic presence.

Pagliarulo joins Cowbell after 12 years at AXIS Capital, where he most recently served as senior vice president and head of finance for North America. Prior to joining AXIS, he held the role of vice president of internal audit at American Safety Insurance and served as a senior manager in insurance at Deloitte.

In addition to these new appointments, Cowbell promoted Eric Biderman to general counsel. Biderman will continue to manage the company's compliance and regulatory functions while supporting efforts to grow operations and expand market penetration.

Biderman has been with Cowbell for three years and previously spent more than 16 years in private practice, including a role as counsel in the Insurance and Reimbursement Practice Group at an AmLaw Top 100 firm.

Biderman, who has been with Cowbell since its inception, helped expand the company's operations in the UK and India, and led the creation of risk-bearing entities, including a residual lines insurance company and an insurance captive.

Cowbell's founder and CEO, Jack Kudale, said Pagliarulo brings more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and is well-positioned to help the company navigate its next phase of growth.

“We are thrilled to welcome Denise to Cowbell as we expand our offerings to support our digital risk management vision for global SMEs,” said Kudale.

Kudale also noted that 2023 was a year of growth for Cowbell, marked by the closing of its Series C funding round, the year of operations in the UK, and the expansion of its US contribution to businesses by up to $1 billion per year. .

“As we enter this next chapter of our journey and look to grow our policyholder base, I am confident that both Denise and Eric's leadership will accelerate that rapid growth,” he said.
