I accidentally spent $167 more on groceries this week than I planned!!! Here’s what happened…

I went to place my Kroger delivery order yesterday. When I went to checkout, they offered me some great deals that were flash sales (usually you will be offered this if you choose delivery of your order from a Kroger delivery truck).

One of those deals was grilled. It said $15.99. That’s a lot more than I usually spend on meat for one meal, but I decided to throw down since I’m on a budget.

I went to pay and it said my total was $143 for all my meals. I was happy because I had gotten a lot of quality meat and other items and I was still under my $150 weekly budget!

But then my groceries were delivered this morning and instead of my total being about $143 (it usually varies a bit depending on if they have everything in stock or need to replace something), it was $315!!

What?!?

I went to check my grocery store and found that instead of the roast being $15.99 total, it was $15.99 a POUND and they had given me a 10 1/2 pound roast!!

So instead of the roast being $15.99 like I thought, it was $167!!!!

I decided to chat live with a Kroger representative to ask if anything could be done since I didn’t want to pay $167 for one fry.

They asked me a lot of questions and asked me to send a screenshot of my actual price that they had emailed me after I placed my delivery order.

I was expecting that maybe they would give me some money back.

Well, guess what??

After they asked me a series of questions and sent me a screenshot, they refunded the ENTIRE price!

Yes, all of your $167!! And I can keep the roast!!!!

This is just a reminder that it doesn’t hurt to ask. Be kind. Be polite. Don’t expect or demand. But be firm and confident and ask if you were overcharged or if there is something wrong with the order.

You never know what could happen – you might get a $167 roast for absolutely nothing. (I feel weird even eating something so expensive, but I’ll try to make it last as much as possible!)

PS I just saw “roast” in a flash sale ad. After arriving, I found out that it was a rib eye grilled. I didn’t even know what this was (yes, can you tell I usually only buy the cheapest cuts of meat?) but apparently it’s really amazing meat and you can cut it into steaks and make it go away. Now I have to be brave enough to see how I can cook a type of fry that I have never cooked before! I heard it’s not the type that you just throw in the pot and bake like I usually do!!
