I worked in college as an administrator in the public school system in New York City. If it wasn’t for that Janitor job, I would have been able to pay for college.
I was very jealous of my friends whose parents had enough money to not only pay for their college education, but to be able to pay for my friends to go to college.
I thought I was one of the “unlucky ones”, but it turns out I am one of the many.
50 percent of the self-made millionaires in my Rich Habits Study worked their way through college. It turns out that when you’re forced to work your way through college you get two of each: a college degree and a heroic work ethic.
Being forced to work to pay for college helped me and many other self-made millionaires develop a heroic work ethic and that ethic, I’ve learned, carries you through your adult life.
