Verizon Stays Ready for Hurricane Hone By Investing.com
IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 25, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As Hurricane Hone passes through Hawaii, Verizon remains committed to keeping communities and first responders connected. The Verizon Response Team prepares throughout the year to respond to extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, by participating in emergency training, strengthening network infrastructure, and ensuring that resources are mobilized for a rapid response.
Our focus is on ensuring that when challenges arise, our network stands strong to support first responders and keep people connected to their loved ones and the critical information they need to stay safe, said Steven Keller, President of the Pacific Market at Verizon.
Verizon's Networks are being launched
Verizon networks are highly recommended to maintain connectivity even during extreme weather conditions, such as hurricanes. With redundancy built into routes and infrastructure, Verizon's network is built to withstand bad weather. Verizon engineers are prepared with thorough testing, making sure backup systems like batteries and generators are working and powered.
In preparation for network discovery operations, Verizon has bolstered its arsenal with deployable assets including:
- An array of more than 550 mobile network assets, including power cell sites, drones, and fixed-wing aircraft for air support.
- 300 industrial based portable network equipment, providing critical connectivity in situations where fiber connectivity is compromised.
- More than 1,000 mobile generators are on hand to help communities restore or restore connectivity, as well as rapid recovery efforts.
