Giant Aon has appointed Mona Barnes (pictured) as its global chief claims officer with immediate effect.
In this key leadership position, Barnes will report to Joe Peiser, chief executive officer of Aon's commercial risk division. He will be responsible for overseeing the company's claims operations worldwide, working closely with his global counterparts.
Barnes joined Aon in 2023, leading the internal UK application teams and the global sales centre. Prior to joining Aon, he led Swiss Re Group's key global litigation and loss management team and previously held the role of vice president of international claims management at Chubb.
The claims specialist has been on the advisory board of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice.
Peiser praised Barnes' contributions, saying: “Since joining Aon, Mona has demonstrated exceptional leadership and brought invaluable expertise to all levels of risk and complex applications. His innovative approach and commitment to excellence make him the perfect fit for this role.”
The chief commercial risk officer reiterated the strategic importance of the appointment, adding: “Mona's appointment underlines Aon's commitment to delivering our customers high-quality claims outcomes and services – one of our key differentiators.
“We are confident that his tenure will improve our relationships with clients, colleagues, insurance companies, and partners in all aspects of claims.”
