Alaska Airlines reports IT outage, disruption in Seattle By Reuters
(Reuters) – Alaska Airlines said on Monday it had experienced an IT outage that caused major disruptions to its operations, including flight delays.
Alaska has issued a stoppage in Seattle, Reuters said in a statement, adding that the issue has been resolved but expects it to have a residual impact on operations.
The flight was for people arriving in Seattle and it took about 2 hours, the airlines said.
On Sunday night, the airline on its X account confirmed that there was an outage as many users complained that they were facing problems accessing its website and app.
“This was not a cyber attack or any kind of unauthorized activity. It was a certificate issue that affected multiple systems,” it added.
In April, Alaska Airlines had to ground all of its flights due to a problem while it made improvements to the system that calculates the weight and balance of its planes.
