Meta to extend ban on new political ads after US election By Reuters
(Reuters) – Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: ) will extend its ban on new political ads after the U.S. election, keeping the ban in place until the end of this week, parent Facebook said in a blog post on Monday.
In response to the spread of misinformation during the last presidential election, technology firms are under heightened scrutiny this year.
During the ban period, Meta will not allow new political ads. However, previously served ads that had at least one view before the ban was applied will continue to run, albeit with limited editing options.
Meta maintains its policy of previous years, asserting that there may not be enough time to challenge new claims made in political ads during the last election period.
Last year, Meta banned political campaigns and advertisers in other regulated industries from using its new AI advertising products.
