Netflix says 60 million households worldwide watched the Paul-Tyson match By Reuters

(Reuters) – Netflix (NASDAQ: ) said on Saturday 60 million households worldwide tuned in to the highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, with the event reaching 65 million streams, according to a statement.

The fight between 27-year-old boxer-turned-prize fighter Paul and 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Tyson, which Paul won, was broadcast live on Netflix.

About 50 million households tuned in to the main event between Irish lightweight champion Katie Taylor and Puerto Rican featherweight champion Amanda Serrano, according to Netflix.

“The bout will likely be the highest-grossing and most-watched women’s sporting event in American history,” Netflix said in a statement.

There were hiccups during the game, with more than 90,000 users reporting problems to Netflix at peak time, according to tracking website Downdetector.

However, the broadcast platform returned on Saturday after a blackout that lasted nearly 6 hours in the United States.

(This story has been corrected to say 60 million, not 50 million, in the headline)
