Trump Treasury picks Scott Bessent to prioritize tax cuts, WSJ via Reuters reports
(Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s nominee for Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, will make it a priority to deliver campaign tax cuts, he told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published on Sunday.
The tax cut policy measures will include making Trump’s first-term tax cuts permanent and eliminating taxes on tips, social security benefits and overtime pay, the WSJ said.
Bessent will also focus on stabilizing prices, reducing spending and maintaining the dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency, he told the newspaper.
